Last year I wrote a post about Greeting Card Writing
I also frequently like to write new posts with building
on previous posts by also
writing about some of those previous posts
and that way Re-purpose Content

This Re-purposing Content also
gave me a possible new idea for my Greeting Card Writing because I used to do a
lot of cartoon drawing and must have several Sketch books full of
Cartoons so I might have some drawings that I can Re-purpose/Re-do
for making Greeting Cards or possibly use my
Digital Camera for creating Greeting Cards

New Years Resolution: Buying a Laptop for your Big & Small Writing Goals.

When you Buy a Laptop for for example starting a Freelance Writing Career,
you can have Big Goals for example become a
Freelance Magazine Writer, only chances are that it won't be easy to break in with
writing Articles for any of the Big Magazines.

Magazine Research Advantage(s)

Since for writing for Magazines, Researching those
Magazines is very important first step. A way to directly
use your Magazine Research is to write a 'Letter
to the Editor' or 'Readers Letter'

It also has several other interesting sides to it, first
you get a chance that you actually get published and for example
also earn some of the possible 'Fruits' involved. (for example
I once won an expensive After Shave for my Readers Letter)

You usually want to write your letter basically as a Comment
on something you read in the Magazine showing the Editor that
you are familiar with the Magazine and read it. (it can also
help you build a 'Clipping File' with your
Published work.)

Readers Letters
To Open Doors

Also when you want to write a Filler or an Article
for that Magazine, with having had your Readers Letter
Published in that Magazine, chances are that you already
somewhat opend the door for more!

What Else Than a Laptop Do You Need for - Your - Writer's Kit?

In a previous posts I wrote about
Greeting Card Writing and I am also
in the process of feeling the pressure of Christmas being
around the Corner, so asking myself what to do with
my own Christmas Card Production this year and my own
Greeting Card Writing ???

'Usually I make my own Christmas Cards,
only currently I still don't yet
have a clue what to do...., I trust that
I will get a great idea when I least
expect it, it usually works that way :)'

Anyway,

Recently I also had an other 'BrainStorm' and came up with

Using Your Laptop for Filling Your - Time Wasting - Productively.

Sometimes it is hard to avoid - Time Wasting - for example
when you have to wait for something, spending some unproductive
waiting time, some time ago on my Travel Blog I wrote a special
post about how you can spend your waiting time productively when you are
on an airport. for example when you have to
Wait long for your Luggage

Using TV Commercial Breaks
Productively and Profitably

Also watching TV usually is an other example
of - Time Wasting - especially when you wait
for some of the long commercial breaks in it.

That is why Sometimes when I am watching a Movie on tv, I noticed
that sometimes I am just wasting my time - as a zombie -
watching meaningless commercials that mean nothing to my life
while waiting for the Movie to continue. Sometimes those
commercial breaks take an awful loooooong time.

So since I already have my Laptop on the table beside my couch
I found a solution, to use commercial breaks to do some
writing using my time more productive.

It actually inspired me to write a Short Story about it
that you can find at: 'Laptop Fan Adventure'

Because the constant stream of images on TV can be a great
'Randomizer' for constantly getting new fresh ideas
'from out of no where'. That way you might even
turn such a potential - Time Wasting - into something
productive and possibly even profitable by for example doing
Blogging and Affiliate Marketing or you
might be able to write a Short Story you can Sell

Although theoretically you can be a great writer
only using a pen and paper, using a Laptop can have so much more benefits
for for example doing research making your Writing Life so much more convenient....,

Using Your Laptop
for Creating Profits

When - besides for example already spending money
on things like Books & Writing Trade Magazines - you have trouble
to also spend your hard earned money on things like
an expensive Laptop, you might want to see it as
a great Basic Investment you can do for your

I was wondering if such a computer could be

As I already wrote posts about the practical side of using a Laptop Computer
and in my post titled: How Do You Get It Into An Upward Position
I wrote about using a Laptop - Stand -, today I learned
that you actually also have something that has a cooling fan
for your Laptop, that gets powered through your USB port,
like for example the
Portable Laptop Stand - Adjustable Laptop Desk (USB Cooling Fan)

Just to give you an idea about what's out there, the one I saw today
was a little different and from a different brand, only I just
show you the one above to give you an idea about what's available.
When you click on this link you will find a little more info about
this particular product or you can have a look at any of the
other Laptop Stands. There is a wide variety and a
broad price range.

Currently I don't have a Laptop Stand (or a Cooling one) myself
but I noticed that there is comming some heat from
under my Laptop when I work on it for longer periods,
I learned from other writers that the laptop fan can
sometimes get clogged up with dust making it
warmer or hot.

'I such a case it
does make me wonder how effective
a Cooling Laptop stand is.'

Start Your Own - Writing Business - by Becomming a Blogger

Basically all what you need is a Laptop Computer
and an Internet Connection and you are ready to go. There
are all kinds of platforms where you can easily crate your
own blogger account and just start blogging.

How does it work?

You can just write about a theme or topic that
you are interested in and just write blogposts about it.
For example I enjoy photography and I could for example
share with you how I enjoy taking photo's with my:

Olympus C765 4MP Digital Camera with 10x Optical Zoom

(it's a rather old model so I hope that you
can still buy them online)

Anyway I could also for example show you a Photo of that
particular Camera, as you can see here below:

Now as you write about the topic you enjoy writing

the same time for example (pre) sell the

By putting in a link (or a clickable image of the product) that will

You can do this because there are all kinds of companies

Do You Frequently Read Writing Newsletters or Trade Magazines?

Some years ago I worked in the Music Business and the company
I worked for had several subscriptions to several
Trade Magazines for the Entertainment Business
It alway's made me feel very excited
when those publications arrived.

'I was alway's curious and excited to see if
there would be interviews in it with people that I knew, or knew something about,
or if there would be info about new interesting developements,
or if they might even have been written something about a campaign
that I was involved in myself.'

Currently for what Writing is concerned I mainly have several
writing related email Newsletters and a
Dutch Language Trade Magazine about Screenwriting, and I recently realised that
I didn't frequently actually read them that much, so
recently I took a little extra time to actually read one of my
email Newsletters that had some really interesting info in it!
(it goes without saying that there is also a lot of
interesting info in books about writing)

'It made me realise that Newsletters and Trade Magazines
can be a great resource learn about new developements
and to get an idea what Conversations are going on in 'The Writing World', and
for getting new ideas and inspiration for example
for starting new writing projects or for example for
taking the Laptop (in an Upward Position) and write new blogposts.'

eventually the visitors will descide on what they

An other aspect of communicating information in a compelling
way isn't only about WHAT topic to write about, but also
about 'The Package' in other words, HOW you present
the writing. So the design choices can also play a part

For example I remember that I once seen a yellow site
with white letters that was almost impossible to read.
In a way that I instantly didn't want to waste my time
on trying to figure out the tekst, and didn't want
to spend a nother second on that site.

to peak the curiousity so that you can easily start clicking
a few links and make it easy to begin reading posts. Also a lot

Talking About Previous Posts

Some years ago I made a Short 'Promo Video' to promote a blog of mine
and to help people to become motivated for early morning jogging.
In that 'Promo Video' (actually a Photo Slide Show) you can see amung
other things stunning photo's of the upcoming Sun...,

'you can also see a photo of my footsteps
in the sand on a wet beach'.

Footstep Fiction

This is one of the thoughts that flashed through my mind when some
time ago I did grab my Laptop and wrote about something
that I have called Footstep Fiction
a way of writing that is part fiction and part reality,
and that is intended
to be anticipating to a possible wished for future.
I recently - while reading about several other possible
writing genres - discovered that there actually is a name
for such a mixture of reality and fiction and
that it is called faction.

I do believe that for example also Dan Browns very successful
Davinci Code and several of his other books
have several locations that are based on real places.

Writing About Previous Posts

When you write on a blog, you also need to think about your
Search Engine Optimalisation (SEO) and I recently read that
for SEO purposes it can be useful (for getting more traffic
out of 'Natural Searches' from the search engines) to besides
all kind of other techniques also do some 'Interlinking',
(linking to some of your own links)

You can do this by starting your new posts with at least two 'incomming' links.
You may have noticed that I already experimented with this
by also include some of the previous posts
as 'hyperlinks' in the post, and in the process I had also put
in an additional link of a book by writer Jeffrey Archer

(that btw is pretty cool to 'Hoover' with your mouse!)

So to demonstrate this I now will first think of a blog
title that explains the topic I am writing about in this post,
and than look at previous posts that can contribute
the topic of this post. Just some interesting posts that
could be interesting for a Laptop Fan like you.

So the title I just thought about is:

A New Short Story: 'Rinse & Repeat'

As a real Laptop Fan I have a new Short Story
(it actually had a spellcheck 'rinse')
O.K. here it goes....,

Rinse and Repeat.

It was late at night, as usual the writer was laying in bed while typing on his laptop.
Except for the wind blowing outside it was silent enough to be able to almost fully
concentrate on writing without to many of the distractions of the day time. On his
bed beside the laptop where laying around several books one of the books was
a book with Short Stories titled: To Cut a Long Story Short. Jeffrey Archer
The writer had read the paperback
book a long time ago during a vacation, you could see
that several pages in the book had been in contact with
sea water and you could even discover some actual beach sand between
some of the pages. He just flipped through the book just looking
at some of the stories titles trying to remember them. Hoping
that looking at them would trigger some kind of instant inspiration
for writing a Short Story himself.
Unfortunately the stories didn’t seem to instantly help him
with any inspiration at all.
The memory of the beach however did help.

Memories of Beach Life

In his minds eye he got back to the beach, feeling the warmth of the Sun on his face.
Every time when the Sun appeared to become a little to hot, a cool breeze helped to cool down.
Especially after the occasional swim in the ocean when still wet, it was an excellent combination
of Sun and cool breeze. Also the ‘sand’ was made from‘seashell dust’ making it nice and cool
on his feet. So what happened at the beach you might ask? Well during one of the swims to extra
cool down, he swam near a nice yacht, wondering what it would be like when he had bought
such a yacht. Imagined about having a special office for writing onboard on such a yacht. Just
an other nice idea for a great Writers’ Workspace that could Inspire. Like a Captain on a ship
steering his words into the right direction. Just imagine writing a little while looking over the horizon
to get a little inspiration and feeling the wind in his face, than after a while just jumping into the water
to cool down and relax. Than jump onboard again continue writing again and after a while taking
such a short break again, and than ‘Rinse and Repeat’ for real! This boat was very close to the beach
and he could easily swim back to the shore to lay down and dry in the Sun again until it was time
to cool down again. (428 words)

Also Now This Blogs Colors Are Easier On The Eyes

First when I started this blog I didn't specifically looked at
creating consistancy in the colors on this blog, because of your
Readers Feedback I discovered that lot's of you didn't
like the bright Orange Title Color, I actually got complaints
about the organge not being easy on the eyes,

'So Now the Colors are
More Consistent and Easier on the Eyes',

also the links and the Blog Titles had other colors,
so now I created a little more consistancy in the colors to make
it easier on the eyes. Hope you like it, asuming that you are a

One of my Short Stories and It's 'Making Off'.

As you might have read in the post
Now You Can Easily find My Short Stories
Recently I created a special Page for Short Stories and did
already place a few Short Stories up there....,

I am going to use a technique that I use for writing.
It’s simply about starting to write about what you want
to write, I want to write something that will create
a certain readers experience. In this Short Story I want
to give the reader the experience of a writer,
a little view into the ‘Writing Factory’ where
you can see how the Short Story is being made. (at least,
how I made this (714 words) one)

That night in the bedroom a little lamp on the night stand
was throwing a little light in the room, while at
the same time, also a small sized television and the
writers Laptop computer helped to shed a little extra
light into the room. Several objects in the room created
faint mysterious shadows on the walls, a sight that alone
was enough to suspect that .....,

Building Writing Success

Since I currently don't yet know if I really have any real talent
for writing, I don't think that currently I can really usher you in,
and show you all kinds of magical writing techniques that
I have in my reportoire. Btw today on tv in an interview I saw
Mike Meyers talk about 'Consiously Incompetent' (and - as far
as I understand - that frequently the Unconsious
look down on them.)

So I don't think that I can really talk about writing techniques
based on my own experience that much (yet). So usually when
I write something it's not based on some uge amount of
writing experience or about having written lots of
International Bestselling Novels, (although I am already
an International Seller
with (hopfully) the 'Best' yet to come.)

Because of that I just write posts based on research
and about what currently seems to make sense to me.
For example my tips for writing your bestseller

Crispy Fresh New Short Story!!!

Yesterday I also wrote a Crispy Fresh New Short Story
for you, only since I wrote it on a really old Laptop computer
that doesn't even have USB, I now need to figure out
how to get it to you, and how to get it on this blog.
So it will probably take a while before
you get to see it,

I know the anticipation
must be almost unbearable :)

When more of you keep on visiting my blog(s) I probably
need to buy a somewhat more advanced Laptop computer in the future,
a laptop just like the ones you can see advertised in at
the bottom of this Blog for the real Laptop Fan,
On the other hand, I don't have to worry to much when I
accidently leave my Laptop out in the rain
or when it happens to accidently drop from a table.
Or when it accidently slides down from a stack of books
like I wrote about in

it actually made me think about writing you this new blogpost...,

How About Adding A Few Words To
- Your Daily Word Count...??? -

Because that post gave me the idea to write this post for you about
the great opportunity that writing Comments can give you.

Writing Comments gives you an opportunity
to practice expressing yourself, and to communicate.
It also will give you an opportunity to actually write something.

Especially when you have a little trouble to write and suffer
from Writers Block and you have the idea not to have done
something substantial for 'your Daily Word Count'
When you have written a Comment, atleast you would have
written something. Something to pracice

Huh..., What...??? I Actually Do Seem to Have Explosive Growth...!!!

As I wrote about in my posts about Footstep Fiction
I wrote about 'Reality Anticipating' because sometimes
the fantacy is paving the way for a reality in progress!
(and sometimes reality can even exceed fantacy!)

In my previous post just as an example I wrote (about what
I initially thought to be - fictional -) Explosive Growth
Only I originally thought that - while indeed
I knew about a little growth - that it wasn't something
I could really call that Explosive yet.

Infact I felt somewhat dissapointed what the seemingly lack
of participation I have seen on this blog. Seeing that writers
(where I expected to find a much higher participation)
actually seem to be less keen on Writing Comments than what
I see on several of my other blogs...!!! Also - although I have
seen some visitors on a daily basis, I wasn't yet that impressed
by the amount of visitors. I was even wondering if it was
even worth bothering to write that many fresh new posts!

Real Substantial Growth
in the Amount of - Unique Visitors!!! -

So you can imagine my surprise that - while checking
the stats - that compared to the amount of Unique Visitors from January
to the amount of visitors in August (not even entirely over yet)

'the growth in Unique Visitor Amount
has been more than 400% ....!!!!'

I do think that actually is pretty amazing!

Also (since May) I also see an growth
in the amount of actual Returning Visitors!i>

O.K. while it all initially looked as 'Baby Steps'
it's going a lot faster than I thought.

Talking about - Footstep Fiction -

As I wrote about in my post titled:
What Do You Think Makes Short Stories The Most Enjoyable?
I was thinking about things that makes Short Stories Enjoyable
to read, in that same post I also showed a little piece titled:
Writers Workspaces that Inspire (and also
a post about my Rooftop Office that I have been working from also.)

Anyway,

Footstep Fiction

In my Writers Workspaces that Inspire
Post I discovered that I might have discovered a new Genre
that I Call Footstep Fiction that is....,

Fiction, Reality
and Reality Anticipating

As being something that is like Footsteps towards a certain
wished for reality.
For Example when I write....,

I Experience An Explosive Growth
In my Fan Base ...!!!

and 'People Love my Writing'

In current reality it might possibly be a tiny little bit exaggerated
to (already) call something like that a reality. I do however think
that it has some advantages to be able to fantasise about it, because
the fantasy itself can generate ideas towards actually realising that reality.
A little bit like Walt Disney's:

'If you can Dream it
you Can Do it'.

Also it can help you prepare for such a wished for reality,
for example in my case, I recently discovered that although
the participation in writing Comments seems to be a lot lower
than expected..., When I look at the Stats and at the
Most Popular Posts-list there actually seems to be
a slight increase in the amount of visitors, and
it looks like some interest is developing in actually
reading some of the posts,

and although it probably is also somewhat premature to assume
that - you reading this - belongs to a group
of Fanatic Fans that will do anything to be able
to be the first to read my new blogposts....,

Chances are that it can't hurt to possibly be prepared to actually
write some new posts once in a while. (or for example think about
possibly hire an Editor to Proofread Blogposts) So because of that
I recently actually wrote some new posts for this blog that you
can read. (See Most Popular Posts - scrolling up
a little - at the side bar here at the left)

'Only I still am somewhat on the fence about actually
already Spell Check everything because it screws up
my carefully 'designed' sub-headings, links and block quotes!'

O.K. Let's Sit Down

Yesterday on my - Home Business Lifestyle Blog - I wrote a

In an effort to make my posts Conversational
I usually use several Sub-headings and also use Blockquotes
to make it more easy to read. Some years ago I have done a
course in Script writing, so I guess I somehow use some of
the 'Dialogue'-like techniques that I am familiar
with because of that experience.

So I guess that I could consider it a tiny little

Especially when you can see that there actually

Funny enough it apprears that readers of

seem to write Comments more frequently
than Writers!

Looking for Spell- and Grammar Checkers and things like that.

Computer Support?

O.K. I probably should edit
the tiny little story I recently wrote,
only currently I don't like to do any Editing or Proofreading.
Since I do know that there are special computer programmes
that can assist in all kind of way's, instead I will look
if there possibly is some kind of online editing support
or something like that...,

After doing some websurfing I discovered that there is indeed
a number of Online Spell- (and Grammar) Checkers,
it's even possible to offer it as a service myself on this website.
Only that looks somewhat complicated (and costly) to implement
especially when you want to run it from your own server.

All possibly interesting things only not for now...,

Developing Proofreading Skills

It probably can't hurt to develope some more Proofreading skills
Recently I helped checking somebody elses (letter) writing,
and I do think that I really did help to make it
very sharp and clear.

'So possibly it's not that I can't Proofread,
only that I am not so good at proofreading my own stuff'.

A Fresh Look

Years ago when I worked at a Big Record Company I checked
the writing of a collegue and he checked my writing before
we faxed it to all the Music Retailers. Some how it seems
a lot easier to Proofread other people writing than my own.
So I probably put it a side for a while and look at it some
other time and look at it with a Fresh Look.

In my previous post I wrote a tiny little attempt
of writing a Short Story titled:
Air Traffic Control, What's Out There
And just as a Starting Pop Artist that starts performing
on a small stage,

'The Crowd Went Wild...!!!'

Well, possibly 'wild', only not yet from enthusiasm.

Expressing Phase (EP)

Since in my 'Expressing Phase' - to be able
to keep in the 'Flow' - I wasn't really looking
at the spelling, So I run it through a spellchecker and there
are a lot more spelling errors than I expected. Anyhow now
Air Traffic Control, What's Out There
at least has been spellchecked.

Publishing Phase (PP)

4) Next Step is
to do some more editing...,

'And oh no you got to be kidding,
also spell check this new Post...?'

O.K. I do think that I will need an Office Manager soon...!!!
Or just speak my ideas into a Memo Recorder and send it to a
Transcription Service like for example www.mt-stat.com although
that looks like a somewhat expensive way,

'Btw anybody out there that has any experience
with using such services for their writing...???'

Air Traffic Control, What's Out There?

O.K. here is an experiment of a Short Story in the making.

(below the story you can find 'The Making Off'.)

Actually it might still be a little to Short
for a Short Story it's just the 'Raw Diamond'
or piece of Coal or whatever you want to call it....,

Anyway, here it is, it's titled:

Air Traffic Control,
What's Out There?

The Red sports car came around the corner with great speed,
people walking on the side walk - blinded by the sun reflecting
in the windshield - nearly had time enough to jump away to escape.
Than with the tires making a high pitched sound the car came
to a sudden stop while making a terrible screeching noise
crashing against the ladder I was standing on.

Than in a flash I looked at the ladder under me that was
launching me through the air like a rocket in a direction
that I didn't yet know. I was flying in the air and like
a cat that can turn himself around in the air when falling
to be able to make a perfect landing, I was trying to do
something similar. The speed that I was falling with was
making me notice how the wind was blowing against my skin,
making me feel like a fighter plane pilot that just
ejected from his plane. I was wondering about what advice
birds could give me in this situation, 'flapping my wings?'
that didn't seem to be working for me that well. Lets think,
lets think real quick! Oh.., aaaaah..., Yes! I need
to 'Glide' towards that tree!

'O.K. lets - hug - the tree now', 'Ready for impact...!'

How do you ever prepare for something like this, I do
think that I need to rely on my instincts

'YES' 'The Eagle has Landed!'

'NO' 'The Eagle Slides!!!'

'YES!' 'I am hanging in the branches of the tree!'

'Naaaaa' I am falling to the ground with my hands pointing down!
'Huh....?' my hands touch something in mid air! What on earth
is happening? Now with my hands I am leaning on something in
the air, with my feet still hanging in the tree! What just
happened? What am I leaning on? It looks like a UFO, Yes it
must be a UFO, without a shadow of a doubt it really looks
like an UFO! Sure I have been rescued by tiny aliens! no it's
much to small for a UFO, You see it's just a street lantern.
O.K. so far so good, I am standing on my hands with
my feet in the tree, now 'hug' the street lantern,
While grasping for air I just make a swing and Yes,
hanging on the lantern now.

Pffff..., I do think that it's time for just a little rest,
relaxing a little hanging on a street lantern. What shall I
do now, read a newspaper?, already read it this morning,
Stock Markets Dropping, Mmm, don't like the word dropping!
Shall I reach for my cell phone and call somebody? Now some
of the people that where walking on the side walk that where
barely recovered from their own jumping away adventure came
to help. Hanging there with my feet hanging down, my feet felt
something, near the top somewhat halfway the lantern was
a sign that indicated that there was a side walk. When I put
my feet on it, I noticed that I could slide down, now only
hanging halfway the lantern only making it a small jump. At
the same time the people from the 'side walk incident'
came to help me to make a soft landing.

'The Making Off'

To come up with ideas for Short Stories, for finding possible
'writing Prompt' I came up with the idea to read
a Newspaper to look for titles and articles to get a little
inspiration, I read something about the Stock Market falling
down..., and

I just started with writing about what
I wanted to write like this:

I just want to write a compelling Short Story
that people can enjoy reading.

So to be able to do that I think that I need
at least some basic things to aim for to be able to establish
something like that:

So I have thought about some random boundaries:

1) first of all I want to make it somewhat spectacular just
as with James Bond movies, so I will begin with a spectacular
action opening making people wonder 'What is Happening'
and what will come next
Just as I wrote about in
The Secret To Writing Success.

2) than there has to be some sort of time pressure
somebody falling down from a cliff or something like that,
in his way down, (read in the Newspaper about
the Stock Markets dropping.)

3) than I want it to have a surprising ending.

What Do You Think Makes Reading Short Stories The Most Enjoyable?

When I think about expressing myself through writing, there usually
are so many ideas that come up and fly through my mind
that I don't find it easy to actually do any writing.

What to Focus On?

Also I don't find it easy to Focus on any specific type of writing
to express myself. I even tried my hands on Song Writing
actually writing Lyrics to Music,
and a lot of other types of writing. Since I also enjoy
Photograpy as you can see on DigitalCamera-Ideas
and since as far as I understand Short Stories usually are more
like a 'Snapshot' of only one specific event or moment,
I was wondering about how I might be able to make use of my power
of observation to possibly focus on writing Compelling Short Stories.

A Tiny Step Towards a Short Story

Or maybe more of a 'Footstep' of a Story...,

Anyway,

I have written some other things that probably look more
as actual Short Stories than this, only currently
I write at my 'Rooftop Office'
and I currently don't have it on this computer I am working on
right now. So to have atleast something to show, you can find
a tiny little 'Fantasy Story' (or as you can expect
from a writer like me - creating my own Genre - (part fictional,
part reality or reality anticipating) 'Footstep Fantacy' :))

Inspiring Video Ray Bradbury Talking about His Writing.

When you happen to have read my post about
Writers Workspaces that Inspire
you know that I like to think (and also fantasize about)
about '(Bestseller) Writers Workspaces' and that
for example I came up with an idea for a 'Out-Door-Home-Office'
and an idea for a possible 'Sea Office' on a Motor Yacht.
(btw that one is still in the Fantasising about it stage)

Authenticity

The thing is that I would like to Write in a way that people will
actually preveive it as valuable. To be able to do this I do think
that an important thing to really be able to write something
of value is to be very Authentic You can see that some time ago
on my - Home Business Lifestyle Blog -, I actually
already wrote about Authenticity being an important aspect
of being a good author.

I just found an interesting Interview with Bestselling Author
Ray Bradbury that seems to confirm this, you
can see it here below, where the author talks about writing
Short Stories. In this Inspiring Video at the same
time you can also have an idea about what his Writers Workspaces and his Writers Lifestyle looks like.

My Current WorkSpace is a 'Rooftop Office' that is also somewhat 'Outdoors'.

Somehow an old post I did some years ago seems to become somewhat
popular when I look at the Stats, it's a post titled:
Writers Workspaces that Inspire

'So I will elaborate on that a little....,'

O.K. for one thing currently I work on a Laptop with under it
a stack of Books to put it in an 'Upward Position'
Just as I wrote about in a previous post with the 'catchy' title:
How do - You - Get it in an Upward Position...??? (your Laptop)

Having it in an Upward Position is makes that your Monitor will be
in a slightly higher position and you don't constantly have to
look down giving you a pain in the neck. So that is one of the
things that I can tell you about the way I work, for what my
actual Workspaces is concerned, I currenty just work on a big desk
and sitting on a not particularly interesting standard desk chair
with wheels on it. (I also have a 'Outdoor Home Office'
with a Big 'Lean-Back' Chair. That Office is somewhat similar
as the one I discribed in the post
Writers Workspaces that Inspire)

Currently my Writers Workspace, is a 'Rooftop Office'
that also makes it posible to instantly give it a somewhat 'Outdoors' appearance
by opening a few (Skylight) Windows. Being able
to have fresh air blow through the Whole Workspace
that way.

So for my Coffee Breaks I direcly will have a little excersise with using the stairs.

Btw talking about Fresh Air what do you think
about having done an actual New Fresh Blogpost...???

How Do - You - Get It Into An Upward Position....??? (Your Laptop)

With this Writing Lifestyle Blog about a writers lifestyle,
I am aiming to come up with interesting things and practical ideas
that can make the life of a writer better.
Like for example writing about:

* How you can create a
Promotional Book Trailer or

* Helping you to find out what Writers Trade Magazines
you can read. or

* How to Start your Freelance Writing Carreer. or

* Just to Find Out what Super Electronic Gadgets
you have for Writers etc. etc.

(and Possibly even about becomming a Writer that can Escape
the 9 to 5 'Treadmill')

As you can see in the Image-link here above you can see a
very practical thing that can help a lot with writing without
getting a Pain in the Neck, because your screen gets
in a much more upward position, and you don't constantly have
to look downwards to your screen.

to get my Laptop into an Upward Position....,'

A Better Way

Only than once in a while I have to make sure that it doesn't come
sliding down, so I might buy one of those Laptop stands somewhere
in the Future. Especially when I get a massive amount of visitors
to this blog and constantly have to write New Comments on the Comments you write,
and when I constantly get new ideas for new posts.

'So give me a Break don't Comment to Much
and don't ask to many Questions! :)'

How about Frequently Taking Breaks...???

'Frequently I have to remind myself to take breaks
once in a while and not just keep on hammering on'.

'Yeeeeeears agoooo (when I was still in College) I worked

As I wrote about in my previous post, I like to receive
Readers Feedback to be able to get a feel about what people
like about my Blog,(or dis-like) or in general to get an
idea about 'What's on the Writers Mind'. Something
that can give me possible new ideas to blog about.

As you could read in my previous post, since not everybody
can easily write comments, I also created a

How about Creating a - Book Trailer - for your Authors Site....???

In my previous post I wrote about one of my other Blogs about
the Travel Lifestyle and about all the Practical Information
for Travelers You can find there. Since I like
Travel
I almost automatically also enjoy Photography, and actually
used some of my Vacation Photo's (stunning Photo's
of the Upcomming Sun) to create a 'Promo Video'
to help motivate people for doing Early Morning Jogging.

'This 'Video' is actually a Photo Slide Show,
only because of the Movie Effecs in it, it has a certain
dynamic in it that makes it really look like a Movie...!!!'

Recently I asked in the Forum about what
Writing (trade) Magazines
writers themselves recommend. Since besides for example a good Laptop for example a

Magazine Subsciption can be something
you want to Invest in for your writing career. An investment

can be important to be consiouss about the keywords you use
in your writing, since that can be important for your

Once in a while I get an email with an Invitation
for a Seminar about Something, Somewhere....,

Usually saying that they only have
a specific number of seats available...,

So I read the word - SEAT - and thought about the Tools for
Writers that I offer here at The Writing Lifestyle Blogspot
and realised that besides things like a Laptop Computer and also other
products like for example a Copy Holder and things like
How to Write Books and several other Resources.....,
although I do have a great 'Writing Chair' myself - I haven't ever actually wrote about it yet, even
while it's such an obvious 'Tool' for Writers!

'I do think that a Good Sitting Chair is definitely
something that can be something
you can use in your "Writers Equipment-Kit"'
.

So that is something that made me think, and I thought about
it a little more, also since I also have a
Healthy Lifestyle Blog I also frequently think about a healthy lifestyle,
and I don't think that sitting behind a desk all day
is that healthy...., so I came up with an idea
for a 'Writing Tip'.

How about Moving Arround
when Writing?

TIP: You might want to 'move arround' while writing.

I came up with this idea because I know about Internet Marketeers -
that spend a lot of time behind their computers - that they
sometimes use a slightly higher table to be able to do their
working behind the computer while standing. So that might be
something to think about also when setting up a place to write.
You can simply experiment with what you like the most.
Personally I use combination of both sitting, leaning and standing.

(with a cordless keyboard I can also stand and also
with a Notebook Computer you can move arround also)

In my 'Out door Home Office' where

I have a nice 'Excutive Chair' that allows me
to comfortably sit (with mine it's even possible
to 'Lean Back' talking about comfortably!) Anyway

On a Quest for Instant 'Fame and Fortune'

Some years ago I wrote a Tiny little eBook Titled:
The VISION (e)Book, it - amung
other things - has to do with getting in touch with the experiences
you want to experience. It's that 'Feeling State' or Emotion that can give you Inspiration for Inspired Action. For example I won't mind to see
more visitors to my Blogspots, and would enjoy to experience
sudden growing visitors numbers on several of my Blogspots, How would it make me feel if suddenly I had
such an Instant Fame and Fortune-like experience?

The Power of Imagination

Well I got a little idea for such Inspired Action
because I got a little 'Spark of Inspiration' when I wrote this, since this idea of Instant Fame and Fortune
reminds me of how - although this it is not mentioned in
the Interview Video you can find at this blogpost -
I did hear that the author of the Harry Potter
Books J.K. Rowling wanted to create
Instant Fame and Fortune for Harry.

'I do think that in an almost Magical way
as an unexpected side effect J.K. Rowling ended up to create
Instant Fame & Fortune for herself
while wanting to create it for Harry!'

According to Albert Einstein IMAGINATION
is more important than Knowledge, so I do think that
J.K. Rowlings Imagination show's that Imagination
can be pretty powerful!

Anyway,

This idea did give me a the Inspired Action
to show you an interesting interview with J.K. Rowling.

here below J.K. Rowling got here inspiration for

I Am on A QUEST To Make this Blog More Popular.

Since I have this Writing Lifestyle Blog and I like to make
it Popular I read several reports about how you can get a blog
running, and how to make compelling blogposts, to make
it 'Sticky'.

'So I am on a Quest
To Make this Blog More Popular....,'

I wrote about it before, first thing I learned is that a Blog
is a way of communicating information and it's also about
creating an 'Online Community'. In this case a Community of
People that enjoy The Writing Lifestyle.

So this Blogspot is specifically about 'The Writing
Lifestyle', Since I can only call this Blogspot
(or these Blogspots) and 'An Online Community' when visitors Re-visit this Blog
(or these Blogs) on a regular basis. For this I do have to
make the Blog(s) 'Sticky' meaning making it attractive
and compelling enough for visitors to Bookmark this Blog
and frequently return to reading new posts.

Making The Blog Posts
More Attractive To Read:

Making it attractive for both 'First Time Visitors'
and 'Regular Visitors' that are already familiar with the Blog(s).
So for this 'Stickiness' making it more
Readable for example
with different types of fonts, and interesting attention
grabbing sub-headings and things like that, I have to keep
the Blog(s) fresh with frequent updates, and new Blogposts,
also frequently linking to other posts or resources, like
for example

to provide the visitors with something interesting and exciting
to read, making it my ongoing 'Contest' or
Writing Assignment.

What Comes Next...???

First it was difficult to contantly come up with new ideas to write
about, since I came up with the idea to write Continuing Posts
(by simply writing 'Comments' on previous Posts) it became a lot
easier to write new posts than just writing isolated individual posts.
So now my posts become more like interesing and related stories,
like a Quest that makes you constantly want's to come back for
more, wondering What Comes Next!!!

Is You Laptop Giving you - a Pain in the Neck - ???

As a (Aspiring) Writer it often is a challenge to get published
- If it's a "Letter to The Editor" that gets published
in a Magazine or an actual Filler or an Article - it always
is exciting and enjoyable to be able to share your Writing Talent
with the World.

It's just that with a Laptop that - since the screen is
attatched to the Keyboard - you constantly have to look
downwards on your screen. Only it's my experience that....,

'Sitting behind a Laptop looking downwards for a
long time can give you strain, or even Neck Pain!'

Besides usually I have a rather constant stream of new ideas to write about for example,

Sitting in the Sun is all about the art of carefully positioning the garden chairs in alignment with the Sun, because believe it or not, - although it doesn't really move fast - it does MOVE!!! The same with Sunglasses, than you have a lot of Sunlight and than you have a clowd infront of the Sun, so the Shades go Up and Off (BTW you can find Sunglasses and more 'Summer Vibes' at: TRAVEL) I do enjoy the Writers Lifestyle and feeling like a Successfull Writer writing already only just thinking about Successful Writing

I also wrote about the Kindle Wireless Reading Device, Wi-Fi, Graphite, 6" Display with New E Ink Pearl Technology With all these new technology it's hard to keep up and decide what you like to buy the most!

I also have a little ipad review for you - not a comprehensive review about ipad apps or something like that - because I recently only had a short look at the Apple iPad Tablet (32GB, Wi-Fi) and I must say that the ipad price isn't that bad when you consider all the things you can do with it, with it's Touch Screen it was really easy to work with and funny how when you hold it in 'Landscape' or 'Portrait' it flips over automatically! It made me wonder what's the best buy, an Apple iPad Tablet (32GB, Wi-Fi) or a Kindle Wireless Reading Device, Wi-Fi, Graphite, 6" Display with New E Ink Pearl Technology or Both? I think they probably both are Best Buy's. So I wondered what was the difference between all those 'Super Electronic Gadgets'. I still am not sure if I already understand all the right details yet, although recently in a Magazine I read something about how e-reader are easier on the batteries and can go longer because it's more like a book and doesn't have to provide it's own light all the time. By Looking at the Number of Monthly Searches and the Number of Search Engine Results. (the competition) you can determine your chance of Success.

So with the help of this Matrix I determined a word that has a considerable
amount of monthly searches and relatively little Search Engine Results.

'Frequently I have to remind myself

The VISION eBook has to do with getting in touch with the experiences you want to experience. It's that 'Feeling State' or Emotion that can give you Inspiration for Inspired Action. Can you Imagine Suddenly having Instant Fame & Fortune..., ???

The Article Idea Generating Procedure (A-IGP)

As a (Blog) writer it sometimes can be hard to come up with new article ideas. If you want to have a steady and reliable never fail system or procedure

that guarantees a steady flow of article ideas, than you are lucky because this
Blogpost article is a dream coming true, your problem solved!

O.K. that is a Big Big Big promise, a great responsibility to promise something like that. But there isn’t a Big pressure on my scholders because I simply know that it is a great system, you will love it too! Buckle up here it comes.

Take Notes Always and Everywhere

Firs of all it is good to realise that you constantly are thinking whole day long anyway. The trick is to simply just CAPTURE THOUGHS, Just capture some of your thoughts once in a while. Capture the Interests that catsh your attention. Have a note path at hand at all time everywhere. Also have a Notepath programm running on your computer all the time computer and let it pop-up if you have an idea to note down. Put the notes and ideas and mark a beginning and ending of the idea or note. To make possible to see easily where a new note starts and the other note ends. For example my note about “An Article Idea Generating Procedure” eventually became the idea for this article for ‘HP’s Happy Writing Blogspot’.

Scanning Notes / Maturing Notes

Once you have “a haze” of marked notes and ideas, scan them reguarly, add bits or bigger parts to any of the notes now and then. Eventually they can become larger elements that eventually can become suitable for ‘Fillers’ (for Newspaper & Media) for a Blogpost or for Articles or Reports. Copy & Paste related ideas together, organise them, put order to it, cutting, reorganising, editing and polishing it make it a filler or an Article. The “A-IGP” always lets you float on a steady flow of material to work with.

Some years ago I downloaded a writing course from Nick Daws, and also heared
him in an interview on http://www.writersfm.com/

BOTH LONGTERM & SHORTTERM
WRITING PROJECTS

'In this Interview Nick Daws has several
interesting tips for writers, for example
that it's smart to work on both
'longterm writing projects' and
smaller 'shortterm writing projects''.

That is an example of a very usefull tip, because you could lock yourself up for two years and work on your 'Big Bestseller Novel' hammering arround on your Toshiba Notebook Computer and than try and get a publisher interested. Unless you got a huge advance from a previous Novel or when you have enough capital or some other income source or income sources - to work on a novel for two years that way - would be a fairly 'Risky Business'.
Because it wouldn't even be a guarantee that any publisher is going to publish.

So to work on smaller shortterm writing projects does seem to be a smart thing to consider. For example you could write articles for Magazines.

and/or start even smaller with writing 'Letters to the Editor' or 'Fillers' for Magazines.

Some time ago on The Home Business Lifestyle Blog I wrote about Sales Strategy and that part of the strategy has to do with a somewhat similar strategy that you can see in Bestselling Novels, all
revolving arround the question:

That's something that in a lot of Bestseller Novels makes them 'Page Turners' keeping you excited about what comes next. In a lot of Novels you can see different story lines and there is a power in the ability to switch from one story line to the other keeping it interesting
constantly keeping you wondering what comes next.

to come up with a new post every time....,'

I created a new technique that makes it easier to write continuing posts. At the left side of my already Published Previous Post, I simply keep a WordPad screen open. Than almost as writing a comment on my own previous post I write a new (continuing) post in WordPad that I later
cut and past into a new post to publish.

Recently I read a Magazine Interview with the Author DAN BROWN.

People that read my Work & Play on the Beach will know, that I like
to go to beach once in a while and go for a swim and to get new inspiration.....,

I can imagine that in a somewhat similar way Dan Brown got part of his inspiration
to actually become a writer when he read
a Sidney Sheldon Book on
a tropical beach when he thought:

'I can do that too'

(BTW when you want to write your own Bestseller you

Because of the things I read in this Magazine Interview,
with his background it becomes clear how his Bestseller Books
had to be about Religion, Church
and Secret Societies.

In his books like for example the Davinci Code or one of his latest Bestsellers 'The Lost Symbol'
he doesn't want to give you simple answers to life questions,
instead he likes to encourage people to search
for them themselfes.

It also becomes clear that with his 'Teaching Hat' he
is inclined to challenge people to come with new ideas and
to think 'outside of the box'. Something that makes
some religious people angry while on the other side makes
other religious people thankful for putting religious topics
on the agenda for people to talk about.

BTW Talking about thinking 'Outside of the Box' how about

Writers Workspaces that Inspire

'Some years ago I wrote
this - part fantasy, part reality - post
about the Writers Lifestyle of a Bestseller Writer and
his Workspaces....,'

It wasn’t at all tidy in his office, it had come to a point that
the workspace didn’t really seem workable and would affect
productivity considerably. This was the point to ask his Assitant
to hire an expert to deal with this problem. It soon became clear
that his office needed a “make over”, it needed to become
a Fun Place to Be and Inspirational, with enough storage place
for books and magazines to be consulted reguarly.

An 'Office/library' that did sound like a good idea.
Eventually they came up with a special concept of

the “Out-door-Home-Office”.

With three desks, and a possibility to open the window in front
of the desk in the middle to give it it’s “Out-door” apperance
and the possibility to sit in the sun while writing.

'Talking about - the Writer's Lifestyle - '

'Or Just to Sit in the Sun in
a Desk Chair during Coffee Breaks.....,'
(Btw. I actually have a great
- Lean Back - Desk Chair that
is Great for Sitting in the Sun..!!!)

To be able to feel the warmth of the sun on his face and feel
the cool breeze of the wind while writing must have a positive
influence on inspiration. With a cordless keyboard and Mouse he
can easily find a nice spot in the sun and still be able to look
at the screen once in a while. Yes now an interesting workspace
was beginning to take shape. Like Marshall McLuhan
said: “We become what we behold. We shape our tools
and then our tools shape us”. The door to success.

It is obvious that with this 'Brilliant-Bestseller-Writers-Workspace'
he had one of the typical tools of a Bestseller
Writer in his hands. It goes without saying that a fishtank with
tropical fish is also included in his writer’s domain. It can
remind him of the fun times when he writes working onboard of
his “Sea Office”, the office on his yacht. Reminding
him of his “Floating on Royalties” methaphor.

Talking about suitable workspaces he got an E-mail from his
accountant who had some nice pictures of vihicles that provide
a businesslike envirorment to work in. With space for a computer
and a mini-bar and that can offer enough space and comfort
to work while
he travels.
On board of a jet he would have enhough space to work and travel
at the same time. But when he is on the road some more working
space would be appropriate. Although with modern mobile electronics
it is a lot easier to transform almost every space into
a suitable workspace.

You can hardly imagine that a writer would be able to afford
such a luxurious lifestyle just by writing. But that is exactly
the secret of his writing success, the lifestyle, how to act and
a specific way of living. It is all part of his incredible success,
